J&T Express, one of Asia’s fastest-growing logistics companies, has officially opened its largest and most technologically advanced logistics hub in southern China, the Greater Bay Area Digital Supply Chain Industrial Park.
The new center marks a major milestone for J&T as it strengthens its foothold in the highly competitive Chinese logistics and e-commerce delivery sector.
Located in the heart of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area, the 65-acre facility integrates automation, digital intelligence, and sustainable infrastructure to handle the surging demand in cross-border and domestic parcel deliveries. Designed to process up to 15 million parcels daily, it is one of the most powerful logistics hubs in China and a strategic asset for managing peak seasons like the Double 11 shopping festival.
Cutting-Edge Automation at Scale
At the core of J&T’s new hub lies a network of automated sorting systems capable of covering nearly 90% of all operations. The facility includes a 50,000-square-meter warehouse equipped with real-time tracking, automated conveyor lines, and AI-driven scheduling systems.
This high level of automation allows J&T to minimize human error, shorten parcel processing times, and enhance the precision of cross-border fulfillment. The hub’s technology platform connects seamlessly with major e-commerce ecosystems such as Tmall Global and JD Worldwide, ensuring smooth synchronization of inventory, order tracking, and customs clearance processes.
By leveraging automation middleware, J&T aims to reduce the friction in handling vast cross-border orders, a key advantage as China’s logistics market continues to expand rapidly.
Green Design for Sustainable Growth
In addition to efficiency, the new facility underscores J&T Express’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The hub features an extensive solar power installation expected to generate 7.1 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, offsetting a significant portion of the site’s energy consumption.
A rainwater collection and recycling system has also been integrated to promote water conservation, while eco-friendly materials were prioritized throughout the construction phase.
Together, these initiatives form part of J&T’s broader push toward carbon reduction and greener supply chain operations, aligning with China’s national sustainability goals and the company’s own ESG roadmap.
Meeting the Demands of China’s Parcel Boom
China’s parcel market remains the world’s largest, processing an estimated 150 billion parcels in 2024, averaging 410 million shipments daily, according to government data. During peak shopping seasons like Double 11, that figure can soar to nearly 730 million parcels in a single day.
For J&T Express, which managed 19.8 billion parcels in China last year, translating to an 11.3% market share, the new hub adds essential capacity. The 15 million daily throughput represents roughly 3–4% of China’s total daily parcel volume, giving J&T a critical buffer to handle seasonal surges while maintaining delivery speed and reliability.
Moreover, with China’s cross-border e-commerce market projected to reach £268 billion by 2025, J&T’s Greater Bay Area hub is strategically positioned to serve as a vital logistics gateway for both domestic and international sellers.
